A steering system (9) for a motor vehicle (1) equipped with a cargo-handling machine (3) including a pair of left and right loading portions (27A and 27B) is provided. The steering system (9) includes a turning actuator (12) that turns a steered wheel (6) according to an operation of a steering member (10), and a side shift actuator (53) that shifts the pair of loading portions (27A and 27B) in the left-right direction. A control unit (11) that controls driving of the side shift actuator (53) includes a target side shift amount calculating section (68) that calculates a target side shift amount (SA*) of the pair of loading portions (27A and 27B) based on lateral acceleration (Gy) detected by a lateral acceleration sensor (61). |
