Multiple-delivery piston pumps with stroke variation and crank and lever actuation.-A mass of yarn wound on a core such as a cone or bobbin is dyed through with bands of different colour, measured quantities of the dyes being withdrawn from the reservoirs and simultaneously injected by pistons through grooved needles into different parts of the mass. The cone C is mounted on a carriage W1 which is reciprocated along rods W8 against an adjustable stop W21 by a handle W16 so that the needles J2 enter the yarn mass. The needles J2 are adjustably mounted in pairs in chucks on nozzles J1 on the measuring chambers P2, into which chambers liquid is drawn past non-return valves P23 on raising the pistons P6. These pistons are mounted on a slide P13 having a guide P14, and are actuated simultaneously when the cone C is in advanced position, by a single turn of a crank P8 connected by a rod P9 and links P10, P12. The length of stroke of the slide P13 may be varied by the adjustment P16; while the lengths of stroke of some of the individual pistons may be adjusted by means of collars P20 which permit a regulatable amount of lost motion.
