<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an uninterruptible power supply system that has high operational efficiency and high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: In an uninterruptible power supply system, a controlling circuit 3 of each uninterruptible power supply unit U includes: an operating section 15 for obtaining the appropriate number of units of the uninterruptible power supply unit U required to supply a load current; a storage section 17 that stores priority order by which a plurality of uninterruptible power supply units U1 through U3 is in standby states therein; and a command section 16 for, based on the appropriate number of units, the number of currently operating units and the priority order, determining whether the corresponding uninterruptible power supply unit U is caused to be in the standby state or to be in an operating state.
