A hub-less concentric wheel assembly comprises three roller bearings 4 which include neodymium magnets and copper coils 5 and rotate in one direction; and two taper bearings 6, 8 with a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and light emitting diodes (LEDs) 3 which revolve in the opposite direction. This contra-rotating movement when the wheel turns generates electricity to power the LEDs, and produce a colourful lighting effect dependent the speed the wheel spins. The faster the wheel rotates, the faster the lights flicker. A locking collar 1 may secure all the components in place against a mounting plate 9. The PCBA and LEDs might be embedded in a translucent moulded outer wheel 2. This aesthetic lighting effect is intended for use in Rollerblades (RTM), scooters and skateboards. |
