PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a furnace carbon black that can improve flex crack growth potential resistance while maintaining the rubber physical properties of mechanical characteristics and extrusion properties or the like compared with a past FEF class carbon black when being combined to a rubber or the like, and to provide a rubber composition that combines the carbon black. SOLUTION: The soft system furnace carbon black has basic characteristics in which the nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N<SB POS="POST">2</SB>SA) is 32-50 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g, and the amount of dibutyl phthalate absorption (DBPA) is 100-130 mL/100g, wherein the ratio (N<SB POS="POST">2</SB>SA/IA) of N<SB POS="POST">2</SB>SA to an iodine absorbed amount (IA) is 0.9-1.0, the toluene coloring transmittance is at least 90%, and the generated hydrogen content is 2,000-2,550 ppm.
