PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ESD protection device including a pair of discharge electrode layers facing each other at a narrow interval, and having a small discharge start voltage, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor.SOLUTION: An ESD protection device 100 includes a ceramic element assembly 10, a first discharge electrode layer 3 and a second discharge electrode layer 5 arranged in layer in the ceramic element assembly 10 to face each other at an interval G, a cavity 7 formed in the ceramic element assembly 10, and a plurality of external electrodes 12, 12 formed on the surface of the ceramic element assembly 10 and connected electrically with the first discharge electrode layer 3 or second discharge electrode layer 5. End faces 3a, 5a of the first discharge electrode layer 3 and second discharge electrode layer 5 are exposed to the edge 7a of the cavity 7. |
