The invention relates to a method for manufacturing an outer moulding ring of a motor vehicle, in particular such as a window frame or body shell moulding, made of an aluminium alloy, by shaping and polishing a sheet or strip made by continuous vertical casting of a high-purity alloy sheet of series AA5xxx, homogenising-reheating the sheet, hot rolling, cooling, cold rolling with intermediate annealing in a continuous passage furnace, or maintaining between the solvus temperature and the burning temperature of the alloy typically during 3 s to 5 min., quenching in air or in water, and optionally annealing at a temperature of 100 °C to 200 °C. The invention also relates to a moulding ring of a motor vehicle manufactured using such a method. |
