The present invention provides a line processing unit and a switch fabric system. The line processing unit includes an FIC and an FE, where the FIC is connected to the FE through a first connection line. In embodiments of the present invention, an LPU and a switching capability can be configured in demand, thereby reducing initial configuration costs.
