The present invention provides a method and a system for enabling the transport of the asset from its current location to its target location by tracking the current locations and target locations of available transport means and modifying the respective routes of the transport means and/or the asset so as to enable partially shared transport in accordance with previously negotiated parameters. The previously negotiated parameters may also define a limit up to which distance or extra-time a route may be modified.
