Provided is a method for treating used sanitary goods, said method having little bad influence on the environment and enabling efficient separation and recovery of materials such as fiber and SAP. A method for treating used sanitary goods, characterized by: comprising, as essential steps, a step for shredding used sanitary goods, a step for dispersing the shredded sanitary goods in water through disintegration together with a crosslinking agent and an acidic substance, and a step for separating and recovering the fiber and/or SAP contained in the sanitary goods; and adding the crosslinking agent and the acidic substance in the step for dispersing the shredded sanitary goods in water through disintegration.
