<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of movement and vibration of a linear motion body in a braking state of the linear motion body. <P>SOLUTION: A tail stock 15 is supported on a bed 11 of a machine tool. A brake plate 21 is fixed along a moving path of the tail stock 15 of the bed 11 on the moving path. A brake passage 32 through which the brake plate 21 is allowed to pass is formed in a clamp body 31 of a clamp device 22 mounted on the tail stock 15. Cylindrical brake holes 42 are formed on the same axis orthogonal to a length direction of the brake passage 32 on paired side walls 33 and 34 opposed to each other across the brake passage 32, respectively. Inner ends of the brake holes 42 are opened to the brake passage 32. Brake pads 44 are axially and slidably fitted in the brake holes 42, respectively. The brake pad 44 includes paired brake pieces 44A and 44B which are split in a peripheral direction and joined together to be formed into a disk-shape.
