The process for dehydration of water/alcohol (92 wt.%) e.g. ethanol mixture, comprises vaporizing or overheating the mixture, passing the mixture to a vapor over a molecular sieve for provoking the adsorption of water on the sieve and for obtaining a dehydrated alcohol vapor, condensing the dehydrated alcohol vapor to recuperate the energy, mechanically compressing the dehydrated alcohol vapor, and regenerating the alcohol vapor with a pressure lower than the atmospheric pressure to produce an effluent. The condensation is coupled to a vaporization of fluid coolant. The vaporized coolant undergoes compression. The sieve is saturated with water for deadsorbing the adsorbed water. The effluent is mixed with the water/alcohol mixture to be treated. The process presents a water vapor consumption of lower than 50-100 liters of dehydrated alcohol product. An independent claim is included for an installation for dehydration of water/alcohol mixture.
|
