<p>A seismic detonation apparatus 10 and method for producing a sound wave from detonation of a fuel/oxygen mix. The apparatus comprises a detonation chamber 12 into which the fuel/oxygen mix 14 is delivered. A detonation device 20 is provided to detonate the fuel. The process of delivery and detonation is controlled by a timing control mechanism. The mechanism can permit individual or a plurality of detonations over a predefined time period. The detonations can be of the same or different frequencies. Fuel is delivered to the detonation chamber by a fuel transportation device 16, which also delivers material to purge the detonation chamber of exhaust gases. The arrangement of the fuel detonation chamber and the detonation device is configured such that detonation of fuel is confined to within the detonation chamber. There can be a fuel sensor operable to determine the attributes of fuel or conditions prior to detonation. The method comprises the step of supplying fuel to the detonation chamber and detonating the fuel.</p> |
