<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information reader capable of improving accuracy of determination associated with whether an add-on bar code is present. <P>SOLUTION: When a light reception signal includes two one-dimensional codes which are a first code and a second code, an inclination angleθbetween an array direction L2 of the first code and a readout line L1 or a perpendicular length D which is the distance between the second code and the first code in a direction orthogonal to the array direction L2 is calculated. Then it is determined that the second code is an add-on bar code Ba when a gap width G is 120% or larger of a reference value X as a threshold for regarding the second code as the add-on bar code and Yes is determined in S64, and when the inclination angleθis equal to or smaller than an angle thresholdθt or when the perpendicular length D is equal to or less than a perpendicular length threshold Dt.
