<p>This disclosure pertains to a decoding device, decoding method, encoding device, and encoding method that make it possible to improve the encoding efficiency attained when referencing an image from one level of a set of hierarchically structured images to perform intra encoding on an image from another level thereof. If an adjacent block adjacent to a predicted block of an enhancement image is encoded in an intra-BL mode in which a base image is referenced, a motion-information decoding unit generates motion information for the predicted block by decoding encoded motion information generated by encoding motion information from intra encoding performed on the predicted block, using motion information pertaining to prescribed motion as motion information for the adjacent block. An addition unit generates the predicted block by decoding encoded data generated by intra-encoding the predicted block of the enhancement image, using the aforementioned motion information. This disclosure can be applied, for example, to a decoding device.</p> |
