<p>Detecting a camera panning operation by detecting camera shake, setting a target speed of the panning operation and calculating a correction speed based on the target speed and camera shake, and using the correction speed to control image stabilization when panning. The correction speed may be the difference between the target speed and speed of camera shake. Image stabilisation may be with respect to image shake in a direction perpendicular to a moving direction of an angle of view in the panning operation. An angular velocity detector may detect camera shake. Target speed may be based on average value of moving speed. Movement may be detected using image processing to calculate motion vectors. Predetermined initial speed settings may be stored in memory. Display means may be used. Camera blur during image capture when shooting video is corrected using image stabilization because smooth panning is hard when using a hand-held camera. Angular velocity detectors arranged perpendicular to each other on a plane perpendicular to the camera lens optical axis allows the rotational shake of the camera in both the horizontal (yaw) and vertical (pitch) direction to be corrected.</p> |
