[Class 100 (i).] In a machine for cutting out and gumming envelope &c. blanks, webs 2, 2a are drawn from reels 1, 1a through printing-devices 4 and a tension controller 8 to gapped adjustable feed rolls 11. The tension controller 8 carries a roller 7 for each web and is oscillated to take up the slack in the web by a lever 22. The web is fed beneath a head 42 reciprocated from a cam 13 and the waste parts, shown shaded in Fig. 5 are forced through the lower die. The cam 13 oscillates a lever 20 carrying a thin metal plate for preventing contact of the printed sheets. The blanks are fed by bands 27 to a bin 29. A roller 30 feeds the blanks through a gumming-device 32 and bands 31 convey the gummed-blanks to a bin 33. The tension controller and the press are operated from a shaft 15. In a modification the bands 27 are replaced by reciprocating dogs. |
