Provided is an implant for living organisms whereby a matrix that comprises magnesium or a magnesium alloy can be prevented from rapid degradation but maintained for a definite period of time after embedding. A implant (1) for living organisms comprises a ceramic coating film (3) on the surface of a matrix (2) comprising magnesium or a magnesium alloy, wherein the total amount of metal elements contained in the ceramic coating film (3), said metal elements having a standard electrode potential of -2.35 to 0 V inclusive, is controlled not to exceed such a level as enabling the matrix (2) to maintain a desired mechanical strength over the period up to the healing of a subject biological tissue into which the implant (1) is embedded. |
