The purpose of the present invention is to provide a polyphenylene ether resin composition having a combination of properties such as excellent heat resistance, adhesiveness and Tg while maintaining excellent dielectric characteristics. A polyphenylene ether resin composition characterized in that: the composition contains (A) a modified polyphenylene ether in which an end has been modified with a substituting group having an unsaturated carbon-carbon double bond, and (B) a crosslinking agent having an unsaturated carbon-carbon double bond; the component (B) crosslinking agent comprises 50 - 100 mass% of (B-1) divinyl benzene and (B-2) polybutadiene; the content ratio of component (A) to component (B) in mass ratio is component (A):component (B) = 65:35 - 95:5; and the content ratio of the component (B-1) to component (B-2) in mass ratio is component (B-1):component (B-2) = 1:100 - 1.5:1.
