(1) A nonaqueous electrolyte solution which is obtained by dissolving an electrolyte salt in a nonaqueous solvent, and which is characterized by containing a biphenyl group-containing carbonate compound that is represented by general formula (I); (2) an electricity storage device which uses this nonaqueous electrolyte solution; and (3) a biphenyl group-containing carbonate compound which is used in this nonaqueous electrolyte solution. This nonaqueous electrolyte solution is capable of improving electrochemical characteristics over a wide temperature range, especially electrochemical characteristics at high temperatures, and is also capable of reducing the increase rate of electrode thickness after high-temperature cycles.
