(1) A nonaqueous electrolyte solution which is obtained by dissolving an electrolyte salt in a nonaqueous solvent, and which is characterized by containing a biphenyl group-containing carbonate compound that is represented by general formula (I); (2) an electricity storage device which uses this nonaqueous electrolyte solution; and (3) a biphenyl group-containing carbonate compound which is used in this nonaqueous electrolyte solution. This nonaqueous electrolyte solution is capable of improving electrochemical characteristics over a wide temperature range, especially electrochemical characteristics at high temperatures, and is also capable of reducing the increase rate of electrode thickness after high-temperature cycles. (In the formula, R1 represents an alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2-6 carbon atoms, an alkynyl group having 3-6 carbon atoms or an aryl group having 6-20 carbon atoms; and each of X1-X4 independently represents a hydrogen atom, a phenyl group or a benzyl group.) |
