<p>Connection shock commonly occurs during fitting when connecting optical connectors to each other. Said problem is solved by an optical module comprising: an IC connected to one surface of a plate-shaped heat sink; a wiring board in contact with one surface of the IC; an optical waveguide partially connected to one surface of the plate-shaped heat sink and in contact with the other surface of the IC; an optical element electrically and optically connected by one end of the optical waveguide; and an optical connector optically connected by the other end of the optical waveguide. When the optical element is a transmission element, the IC drives the optical element on the basis of transmission signals from the wiring board. When the optical element is a reception element, the IC amplifies electric signals from the optical element and sends reception signals to the wiring board. The waveguide is warped at the other end by compressive force from the optical connector.</p> |
