<p>Disclosed is a method for leak testing containers filled with a consumer product to test if the vessel or bottle is suitably sealed from the outside environment and the container contents maintain freshness. The method comprises the step of monitoring presence in the surrounding of the container of at least one analyte, the material composition thereof being dependent from the consumer product and exploiting a result of the monitoring as leak indicative, the monitoring comprising mass spectrometry. The method comprises inline testing up to each container of a stream of the containers and providing subsequent containers of the stream within respective test chambers moved as a test chamber stream and controllably time multiplexing an operational gas stream-connexion from the interiors of the test chambers to an input port to a single arrangement performing the mass spectrometry. Each of the test chambers is controllably connected, and moved as a test chamber stream, to a respective output line. At least two collector chambers are provided. The collector chambers are moved into gas stream communication with respective ones of the output lines and collecting in the at least two collector chambers a dose of gas from respective different ones of the output lines. An input line is provided to the mass spectrometry and sequentially moving one of the collector chambers after the other of the collector chambers with the respectively collected dose into gas stream communication with the one input line to the mass spectrometry and dispatching sequentially one of the doses after the other into the input line.</p> |
