[Class 83 (iii).] A box tool for turrets comprises two parts axially adjustable-an inner sleeve 2, which is held by the turret, and a tubular outer part carrying the tools. The parts are connected by a stem 3, fitting loosely in, and pinned at one end of the sleeve, with a bulbous portion at the other end which is held in a split socket 7, the two parts being set in the required position by screws 13. The tools are secured by a cover-plate 18, distancepieces 20, and tapered bolts 33 ; they are set by pressing against a model of the part to be made which fits into a corresponding internally-shaped bush secured to the back of the holder by screw 9, a part of the holder 30 being cut away for convenient working. A setting device 27 is fitted over a bar in the chuck and used to initially mount the toolholder in the machine, a flange 29 enters the tubular part 1, the turret is brought up so that the collar 1 lies flat against the flange 27, the bolt 12 is tightened, and the set-screws 13 are then suitably adjusted. |
