<p>Accurate and efficient solid ink stick identification is allowed in a solid ink imaging device by using a solid ink stick identification system. The solid ink identification system includes a driver that is configured to move one of a light source and an optical sensor between multiple scheduled positions. The light source emits light toward an ink stick surface and the optical sensor generates a signal corresponding to the amount of received reflected light. A controller identifies a solid ink stick shape based on signals available when one of the light source and the optical sensor moves between the multiple scheduled positions.</p> |
