<p>The present invention relates to a skin whitening composition containing an extract of Miscanthus sinensis as active ingredient. The extract of Miscanthus sinensis has excellent antioxidant activity and controls synthesis of melanin by inhibiting activity of tyrosinase. Moreover, when applied to a melanoma cell includingα-MSH, the extract of Miscanthus sinensis inhibits synthesis of melanin more excellently than ascorbic acid, a prior whitening substance, does. Therefore, the extract of Miscanthus sinensis can be widely used as a safe and effective whitening substance.</p> |
