A silicone resin is provided. The silicone resin may be effectively used to encapsulate a semiconductor element, for example, a light-emitting element of a light-emitting diode.

A silicone resin that is represented by an average composition formula of Formula 1 and comprises a siloxane unit of Formula 2 and a siloxane unit of Formula 3, wherein a molar ratio of aryl groups bound to the silicon atom with respect to the total silicon atoms is in a range of 0.7 to 1.3, wherein a molar ratio of aryl groups bound to the silicon atom in the siloxane unit of Formula 2 with respect to the total silicon atoms is in a range from 0.4 to 0.8 and wherein a molar ratio of aryl groups bound to the silicon atom in the siloxane unit of the Formula 3 with respect to the total silicon atoms is in a range from 0.25 to 0.7:
