The present invention provides a negative electrode active material for an excellent lithium secondary battery with high capacity. The lithium secondary battery is obtained by using porous silicon with high purity manufactured from rice husk by a simple process. The present invention also provide a method for manufacturing the negative electrode active material derived from rice husk for the lithium secondary battery. The method includes the steps of: producing silica by performing an acid treatment and a first heat treatment on the rice husk; and manufacturing the silicon derived from rice husk by performing a magnesium heat reduction process as a second heat treatment on the silica derived from the rice husk after mixing the rice husk with magnesium. According to the present invention, the negative electrode active material is manufactured from rice husk in a large amount which is stably produced all around the year. |
