An objective of the present invention is to provide a sliding type switch capable of maintaining excellent contact onto a terminal plate of a contactor and improving position detection precision of an operating unit by improving contact surface pressure. The sliding type switch includes: a plurality of terminal plates (2) extended to a terminal frame (1); a movable member (4) cooperating with an operating unit such as a shift lever to be rotated with respect to the terminal frame (1); a contactor (5) slidably moved on the terminal plate (2) according to movement of the movable member (4); and a contact part (5a) slid with respect to a pair of terminal plates (2) while making contact with the terminal plates (2). The contact part (5a) of the contactor (5) makes contact with the pair of terminal plates (2) to achieve electric conducting. The sliding type switch may detect a position of the operation unit by generating an electric signal according to a relative position of the terminal frame (1) of the movable member (4). At least one contact part (5a) of the contactor (5) makes point-contact with the terminal plate (2) to be slid.
