An image reading device of the present invention includes: a manuscript table on which a manuscript is arranged; a lighting unit which is formed to illuminate the manuscript; a linear sensor which is formed to receive light from the manuscript; an optical unit which is formed to guide light from the manuscript to the linear sensor; and an arrangement unit which is formed to determine the position of the manuscript in the longitudinal direction of the linear sensor. The lighting unit includes: a light guide which is extended in the longitudinal direction of the linear sensor; and a light source which is provided only for a longitudinal end part of the light guide. The arrangement unit is provided for a side which faces the light source in the longitudinal direction of the light guide. |
