PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylate prepared by the process and use thereof for preparing a high molecular weight homopolymer or a copolymer.SOLUTION: There is provided the use of the (meth)acrylate for preparing a high molecular weight polymer. The (meth)acrylate is represented by the formula (I):CH=C(R)CO-O-R(I) and prepared by reacting (meth)acrylate of the formula (II) with alcohol of the formula (III) in the presence of a catalyst and a phenolic polymerization inhibitor, the reaction being initiated by inputting oxygen or an oxygen-containing gas mixture into a reaction mixture with a ratio total oxygen input amount of 1.0 L/kg or less, which is measured by litter of oxygen per 1 kilogram of (meth)acrylate of the formula (I) and a volume of introduced oxygen is calculated at temperature of 25°C and pressure of 101325 Pa.
