1. A method of operating a memory system, the method comprising:
reading flag data of each word line of memory blocks of a semiconductor memory device, the flag data stored in one of the memory blocks, and storing the flag data in a random-access memory (RAM) outside the semiconductor memory device; reading the flag data in the RAM and storing the flag data in a flag register in the semiconductor memory device; and performing a read operation on memory cells of a selected page in response to a page address on the basis of the flag data stored in the flag register.
