A method of making a cutter element for a drill bit, wherein a first material is positioned into a canister to form a first region, and a second material is positioned to form a second region, wherein said positioning is by a fill to weight system; a substrate is loaded into the canister; and the canister is sintered to form a cutter element, wherein the first region and the second region impart a polycrystalline diamond table having different characteristics.
