PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing vibration at the time of start.SOLUTION: A control device is mounted on a vehicle 1, and is applied to a three-cylinder internal combustion engine 11 in which a first MG12 is connected to a crank shaft 40 for power transmission. A vehicle control device 30 controls an output torque of the first MG12 when causing the internal combustion engine 11 to stop such that the internal combustion engine 11 stops with a preset specific cylinder being in a compression stroke. The specific cylinder is a cylinder in which a relationship as a vibrational component which is caused by precession motion of the internal combustion engine 11 when the internal combustion engine is started with the specific cylinder being in a compression stroke and a vibrational component which is expected to occur with the vehicle 1 in a case it is assumed that a torque which is applied to the crank shaft 40, with a piston 41 and a connecting rod 42 of each cylinder 11a being removed, when the internal combustion engine 11 starts is applied weaken each other.
