PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can provide sufficient image density at recesses on the surface of a recording sheet during printing at normal image density, and reduce the bleeding of character images and line images during printing at low image density.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus transfers images in conditions in which the time average value of potentials of a transfer member and an opposing member is the same as an offset voltage that is the central value of the maximum value and the minimum value of the potentials of the transfer member and the opposing member, or on the transfer direction side with respect to the offset voltage, and controls the frequency of an AC current applied between the transfer member and the opposing member according to the set toner adhesion amount during development so that the frequency of the AC current is reduced as the set toner adhesion amount is smaller. |
