PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multibranched polymer and a method for producing the same by polymerization of anhydrofuranose having a furanose ring and analogs thereof.SOLUTION: The multibranched polymer and the method for producing the same are provided. The multibranched polymer comprises a polymer of at least one compound represented by general formula (1), where R, Rand Rmay be identical or different and each represent a hydrogen atom, a hydroxy group, or a 1-30C hydrocarbon group or hydrocarbon-O- group, provided that at least one of them is a hydroxy group.
