PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a call originating function for a data collection master unit and a radio slave unit used for a radio meter reading system a meter of which can be simply used without wiring work even for an existing house. ! SOLUTION: A radio slave unit transmits a start signal to a handy terminal, which is a data collection master unit, by use of a broadcast signal, and the data collection master unit placed a position where the start signal can be received checks registration information, and transmits a response signal (identification code) if the registration information accords. The radio slave unit having received the identification code transmits a call origination request to the data collection master unit in an area where communication is available by specifying the identification information. !
