Disclosed is a relay apparatus, which is connected to a host apparatus by means of a first communication method, and is connected to a terminal apparatus by means of a second communication method, and which transmits and receives data to and from the terminal apparatus by following instructions given from the host apparatus. The relay apparatus is configured from: a communication quality measuring unit that acquires communication qualities of the second communication method; a packet processing unit that detects an error in the connection with the terminal apparatus; and an error signal transmission determining unit that changes, corresponding to the communication qualities acquired by means of the communication quality measuring unit, notification timing of notifying the host apparatus of an error detected by means of the packet processing unit.
