PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic light emitting device with improved light outcoupling, and a method for manufacturing the organic light emitting device.SOLUTION: A device 300 includes: a substrate 304; a first electrode 303 disposed on the substrate; an organic layer 302 disposed on the first electrode; and a second electrode 301 disposed on the organic layer. The organic layer includes: a first region 305 including an organic light emitting material; and a second region 310 including a transparent low-refractive-index material embedded inside the organic layer periodically, the low-refractive-index layer having a refractive index lower than that of the organic light emitting material. The transparent low-refractive-index material embedded inside the organic layer periodically has substantially no distortion in the radiation spectrum of light extracted, and provides an outcoupling efficiency increased over a wide spectrum. At least one of the first and second electrodes is a transparent electrode. |
