PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection by inhibiting the activity of serine protease, in particular the activity of non-genotype HCV 2,3 NS3-NS4A protease.SOLUTION: A method for inhibiting hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype-2 NS3-NS4A protease comprises contacting the protease with VX- 950 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof in an amount effective to inhibit the activity of the protease. The method further comprises an additional step of administering to the patient an additional agent selected from: an immunomodulatory agent; a cytochrome p45 inhibitor; an antiviral agent; a second inhibitor of HCV protease; an inhibitor of another target in the HCV life cycle; or combinations thereof, where the additional agent is administered to the patient as part of the same dosage formulation as VX-950 or as a separate dosage formulation.
