PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods for: treating abnormal musculoskeletal joint conditions including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and local joint inflammation in companion animals including dogs and cats; and relieving symptoms associated with such abnormal musculoskeletal joint conditions.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a composition and the use thereof, wherein the composition comprises: an omega-3 fatty acid; a glycosaminoglycan; an amino sugar; an antioxidant; and carnitine or acetylcarnitine. The omega-3 fatty acid is selected from alpha-linoleic acid (ALA), docosahexanoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). The glycosaminoglycan is selected from chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate, keratan sulfate, heparin, heparan sulfate and hyaluronan. The amino sugar is selected from galactosamine, glucosamine, sialic acid and N-acetylglucosamine. The antioxidant is selected from vitamin C, tocopherols, tocotrienols, glutathione, lipoic acid, melatonin, and beta-carotene. |
