PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon electrode for a solid polymer type fuel battery which is high in surface smoothness.SOLUTION: A porous carbon electrode comprises: a porous carbon electrode base material with two coating layers formed on at least one side of the porous carbon electrode base material and each including carbon powder and a water-repellent agent. In the porous carbon electrode, the difference between the thickness of the coating layer 1 on the side of the porous electrode base material, and the thickness of the outer coating layer 2 is 1-48 μm. It is preferred that, in the porous electrode base material, the coating layer 1 has a thickness of 2-50 μm, and the coating layer 2 has a thickness of 2-50 μm. |
