PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a distance calculation device and a distance calculation method capable of accurately calculating a relative distance to an object even when an imaging state is degraded by, for example, adhesion of a raindrop or mud to a camera.SOLUTION: A distance calculation device is for an imaging system provided with a plurality of imaging devices. The distance calculation device comprises: a first distance calculation section which calculates a distance to an object on the basis of image information taken by one imaging device among the plurality of imaging devices; a second distance calculation section which calculates the distance to the object on the basis of the image information taken by at least two imaging devices among the plurality of the imaging devices; an image state evaluation section which evaluates imaging states of the imaging devices; and an output distance calculation section which calculates an output distance to the object. The output distance calculation section changes a calculation method of the output distance in accordance with an evaluation amount of the imaging states.
