The present invention relates to a preparation method of an alicyclic epoxy resin, and more particularly, to a preparation method of an alicyclic epoxy resin for preparing an alicyclic epoxy resin with high purity and high yield and for improving economic efficiency by recovering by-products. The preparation method of an alicyclic epoxy resin is characterized in including a first step of inserting perpropionic acid (PPA) dissolved in benzene and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in tetrahydrobenzyl-tetrahydrobenzoate (THBB) to separate a benzene layer and a sodium propionate layer; a second step of separating and recovering the benzene layer from the sodium propionate layer; and a third step of purifying the benzene layer to prepare an alicyclic epoxy resin of the following Formula 1.
