The invention relates to a device and corresponding method for designing surgical instruments introduced into a patient's body, in particular patient-specific instruments (PSI), and to the preparation of the intervention for implanting an artificial knee joint in a patient in need of total knee arthroplasty, according to universal templates, in terms of measurements and dimensions, which can fit articular implants produced by different manufacturers. The latter generally produce both the prostheses and the specific PSI, which renders these instruments very expensive and curbs their combined use, on a large scale, with other prostheses produced by competitors. The device according to the invention is suitable for all sorts of artificial joints currently available on the market and for any type of joint which is already designed specifically for a patient and is to be produced in the future. The device according to the invention is an implantable instrument which is specific to each patient and the production of which is based on the segmentation and three-dimensional reconstruction of medical images (CT scans or MRI). |
