The invention relates to a flat seal that has a sealing plate (10) which comprises a media-passage opening (14), a spring steel functional layer (12, 20) with a sealing bead (18, 22) that encloses said media-passage opening, as well as a second sealing layer (24) consisting of a more easily deformable second steel sheet which has an original thickness and an original hardness and forms an annular zone around the media-passage opening (14) with at least one annular region that is thickened with regard to the original thickness so as to form an annular groove (30, 32) for engaging with the sealing bead (18, 22), said second sealing layer (24) having, in said annular region that has been produced and thickened by cold forming some sections of the second steel sheet, a hardness greater than the original hardness, and (a) the annular zone having only one thickened annular region, with an annular groove (30, 32) engraved on at least one side of the second sealing layer (24), or (b) the annular zone having, in the radial direction relative to the media-passage opening, two thickened annular regions arranged one behind the other and spaced apart from another so as to form the annular groove between them. |
