This rack-and-pinion steering gear unit is provided with a rack shaft and a cylinder section. In the rack shaft, an elongated metal plate is bent, the edges at both ends in the widthwise direction of the metal plate are abutted, and thus the whole is configured into a hollow tube. The cylinder section is fitted around the end of the rack shaft. |
