The method according to the invention for identifying a terminal in a multimedia content supply system comprises: a) the acquisition (101, 103), then decoding (105, 107, 109), by that terminal, of temporal multimedia content to generate a stream that can be played by a multimedia apparatus, b) the transmission (116, 144, 103) of an identification order to that terminal, from a terminal identification device, c) in response to that order, the activation (129), by the terminal, based on an identifier, of a predetermined modification of the stream, and the transmission (109) of the modified stream as a stream to be played by the multimedia apparatus, d) the acquisition, by the terminal identification device, of the modified stream and the determination (130) of the identifier, from the transmitted order and the presence or absence, in response, of the predetermined modification in the acquired stream, and independently of the content of said predetermined modification. |
