<p>353,029. Gravity-separation apparatus. HARTLEY, E. and HARTLEY, C. J., Kearsley Chambers, Shelton Old Road, Stoke-on-Trent. April 17, 1930, No. 12267. [Class 111.] Sewage dredgers, scrapers, elevators or distributers of the type in which girders which support the apparatus are hauled by cables or chains over detritus chambers, grit channels or filter beds have their girders supported by a bogie carriage at one or both ends. Figs. 7 and 8 show the apparatus applied to a distributer in which a girder C hauled by cables T and carrying a distributing arm J, is supported by bogies A, B having flanged wheels running on rails. The bogie A at the siphon end is mounted to turn on a vertical axle carried in a bracket on the girder C. The bogie B at the other end turns on a pillar D which passes through a steadying fork S and has a ball-and-socket connection at its upper end with a bracket P. In place of a ball-and-socket connection the pillar may be hinged on the bracket P so as to swing outwards. In a modification a bogie carriage with flanged wheels is mounted at one end only of the guide the other being provided with flangeless wheels preferably provided with self-aligning bearings.
