The invention provides a damping device. Even if leakage of viscous fluid filled in a cylinder body of a piston type damping machine occurs, the viscous fluid will not flow outside of the damping device. A maintaining part (8) of a support seat (S) is composed of a maintaining recess portion (8a), which can accommodate the cylinder body (1) from a direction orthogonal to the axle of the cylinder body (1). A housing (H) has a side opening part (16), which can be accommodated in the support seat from the open front end with the maintaining part being in the front and is communicated with the maintaining recess portion of the accommodated support seat. The housing is provided with a front side flowing-stop portion (22) and a lateral side flowing-stop portion (23) of viscous fluid. The front side flowing-stop portion (22) is disposed in the bottom of the housing along a direction intersect with the moving direction of the support seat from the opening front edge of the side opening portion. The lateral side flowing-stop portion is formed by edging the lower edge of the opening of the side opening portion between the front side flowing-stop portion and a rear wall (17). |
