The present invention provides an arc welding apparatus which can control heat input by restraining consumption of a welding material. The arc welding apparatus (A1) comprises: a welding condition acquisition unit (U1) which acquires welding conditions; a heat input calculation unit (U3) which calculates necessary heat input according to the welding conditions; a frequency setting unit (U4) which sets a frequency of a short-circuit state and an arc state to be lowered as the necessary heat input increases; and a feeding device (41) which repeatedly performs forward and backward movements of a welding wire (44) with regard to a work (W) with the frequency.
